April 1, 2021 (New Westminster, BC)-

Fraserside’s Mobile Work Crew were all smiles last week when they finally got their brand-new pickup truck. The crew of adults with developmental disabilities are contracted to do outdoor work such as landscaping, rubbish removal, power washing, recycling, grounds keeping, and maintenance across Greater Vancouver.

The crew had been missing out on work after their pickup truck was stolen in the fall. Crew members were concerned they would not have the truck they needed in time for their busy spring season. The truck is essential to transport the gear and tools needed to get their work done.

After media covered the Mobile Work Crew’s story, the donations started pouring in. In just one week, the crew had enough funds for a new truck. “The crew is mobile again and we cannot thank the community enough for their generous support,” says Lynda Edmonds, CEO of Fraserside. “This vehicle is more than transportation and a way of moving tools and equipment. For the crew, this truck means independence, it means doing real work for real pay, and it means community belonging.”
