  • Lynda Edmonds Nominated for 2019 YWCA Women of Distinction Awards

NEW WESTMINSTER, BC, February 12, 2019 – Fraserside Community Services Society announced today that its Chief Executive Officer, Lynda Edmonds, has been nominated for the 2019 YWCA Women of Distinction Awards. Recognized nationally, the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards is the organization’s premier fundraising event, honouring extraordinary women leaders whose outstanding achievements contribute to the well-being and future of communities across Metro Vancouver.

“An experienced social worker and administrator, Lynda brings a unique combination of head and heart to her leadership of Fraserside Community Services Society,” said Tamara Hunter, a board member of the New Westminster-based social service agency. “It is an honour and achievement for Fraserside to have Lynda be selected as a nominee this year.”

Edmonds, who has been nominated for the Non-Profit award category, assumed the role of CEO in 2012 and led Fraserside to sustainable fiscal management and culture change while enhancing its grassroots mission to support Metro Vancouver’s vulnerable people. With a confidence for facilitation and accountability, Edmonds led Fraserside to develop an innovative strategic plan, transform its facility for formerly homeless individuals into a community of safety, and create the infrastructure to measure and grow the agency.

“Throughout her 40-year career, Lynda has put first the people for whom she works and her accomplishments are synonymous with theirs,” said Hunter. “She truly believes, ‘we all belong.’”

Since 1984, the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards have honoured more than 300 award recipients and 1,750 nominees across Metro Vancouver. Winners of the 2019 awards will be announced at the Women of Distinction Awards Gala on Monday, May 13 at JW Marriot Parq Vancouver.
